Summertime at the University
Paper Prototyping in HCDE 537
This is truly a funny story for me to tell. It all goes like this…
This summer I was going to take User Centered Web Design (HCDE537) at the University of Washington. But, I decided against it because I wanted to have a lighter summer this year than I did the previous year. That statistics class I took last year was a bitch.
My plan was to take some much needed time off to just sit in the backyard and play with the baby and the dog. You know… actually have some time to relax a bit. Well… even the best laid plans go astray, eh?
The long and short of it is that instead of taking HCDE537 or not taking it, my name got thrown in the ring to be the teacher’s assistant for the class this summer. This meant that I would need to show up for the lectures, participate and help out. I would also be in charge of teaching web production in the labs.
Well… being able to teach at the University of Washington was just too good of an opportunity for me to pass up. Therefore, I had no choice but to sign up accordingly. I guess I wouldn’t be having a light summer after all.
I must say that even though I didn’t get much time relax or to sit in the backyard, I still did enjoy myself this summer. I also felt like I learned a lot from the main instructor of HCDE537 and I was able to provide a good and solid experience in the lab for the students. I feel like it was well worth the time and a job well done.
So, here’s to finally getting a chance to enjoy what is now left of my official summer vacation.
