Yup… The wife, the dog, the boy and I headed out to Idaho again for our vacation this year. After the busy year that the wife and I have had so far, we were very anxious to go. But, this time it wasn’t just a vacation. This time, it was a reconnaissance mission as well.

Maybe you’ve heard me talk for a while now about moving to or near McCall, Idaho someday to go play in the dirt. Or, maybe you haven’t. Either way… hopefully I’m still going someday. Don’t worry… I plan on bringing everyone with me.

So, what would we do out there you might ask? Well… My wife has thought about opening a Bed & Breakfast or a Pit Bull rescue ranch. I’ve thought about opening a Café or maybe teaching at the high school. I’m sure there are businesses out there that could use a new website too! Either way, I hope this is the place where we end up.

My father has already moved out to this promised land and bought a house in Sandpoint, Idaho—voted the most beautiful small town in America. His house is a nice comfortable place for us to hang out to relax and have a nice steak or two. So, this was our first stop on the trip.

While in Sandpoint, we took the opportunity to take August to Silverwood for his phase one of roller coaster training. Since I don’t like the big ones, it’s up to the boy to keep the wife company on those rides when we all go in the future. Grandpa even came along too. He was happy to sit with August and get a free lesson in flirting with the ladies while Karin and I went on a few rides.

After riding the roller coasters and eating too much for a couple of days at my father’s, it was on to McCall for the rest of the vacation. McCall hasn’t just been a vacation spot of choice for us to just get away from the city and relax. It is also the place I would love to to live down the road a bit. What a beautiful place to raise a boy and maybe a girl someday. The trees are big, the lake is beautiful and the air is clean. My type of place to relax.

I was amazed at all of the real estate that was for sale. There was so much to look at! We drove up the mountain on the west side of Payette Lake, east out past Lick Creek Meadows and south down the Payette River a bit to window shop and dream about where we might want to live someday.

Overall, the trip was very relaxing and successful. We were able to get a better feel for the town, spend some time with the family and friends, enjoy the lake and the creek and soak in the sun a bit. What a great way to spend some quality time together.

Now… we are all safe and snug back at home and ready to go to bed.

Dude…beautiful photography and great blog to go along with it. I’m sure you will all make it to McCall permanently. I’ll have to check on bus transportation from Spokane to McCall for the future. Love to you all.
